West Cork, Hope Foundation & Irish Life Boats

End of Summer

As the end of summer approaches I am looking forward to a few days break next week in remote west Cork, taking to the road in the direction of the Beara Peninsula, I’m looking forward to shooting some landscapes and just chilling out. Before I go I will be covering the Munster 100 Road Races in Dunmanway this weekend where an estimated 10,000 spectators are expected and hopefully the weather keeps up for the occasion.

Hope Foundation – Ladies Mini Marathon

As that time of year approaches once more for the Ladies Mini Marathon I was asked by my good friends at the HOPE foundation, to highlight that 250,000 children are living on the streets of Calcutta and The HOPE Foundation is funding projects in healthcare, education, shelter and child protection to help children and their families to break the cycle of poverty. You can make a difference… Take part in the Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon in aid of The HOPE Foundation on Sunday 26th September & change the lives of street & slum children.

Irish Lifeboats Need Your Help

While I give to most charities (who doesn’t), I have to say that the one I am keenest to support is the RNLI and here at the Post we give coverage to their ‘shouts’, specially those of the Ballycotton crew. The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, and needs your support to train and equip their volunteer lifeboat crews.

The RNLI Annual Cork Flag Day collection takes place on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd September in Cork city and suburbs. If you can spare an hour or two to help them collect for their volunteer lifeboat crews around the coast, please contact 021 4823414 or 087 6236322

Saving lives at sea for over 185 years, today it costs €1598 on average to train one volunteer lifeboat crewmember. Please show your support on the collection days.

Congratulations

Well done to local man and renowned artist Kevin Sanquist on his recent accolade of Cork Person of the Month. Kevin is a former colleague and this is an award well deserved.
