NOMINATE CORK CARERS FOR CARERS OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2010

I was delighted recently to receive correspondence from the Carers Association about the Carers of the Year Awards 2010. These awards present an ideal opportunity to recognise the selfless dedication of carers in Cork and throughout the country.

Every one of us will personally know of carers who sacrifice so much to care for a loved one. The annual awards ceremony can only reward a small number of carers, but the awards give recognition to the invaluable work carried out by thousands of carers in Cork and around the county.

I believe it is appropriate that a Young Carer of the Year is also chosen as part of the event. I would encourage anyone who has been touched by the work of carers to consider submitting a nomination to the Carers of the Year Awards 2010.

The 2010 awards are being sponsored by Emergency Response Ltd. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday, 10th September 2010.

The prizes include a cash prize, commemorative award, weekend break in Ireland and a laptop computer.
