Cork people have no confidence 9 months after flooding – the Minister must go ahead with recommended Independent Investigation
We are 9 months after, facing into another winter and people aren’t confident. They feel that it could happen to them all over again and nothing has been done as far as they are concerned.
We do need this investigation. People have been left in an appalling state since that night. Their homes have been destroyed and they find now that they can’t get reinsurance. There are a lot of businesses facing extreme difficulties and we need reassurances that this won’t happen again.
Certainly an independent investigation would establish what went wrong and structures, and procedure, could be put in place to ensure that doesn’t happen again.
The report from the committee in the Dáil is calling for an independent investigation into what went wrong when we had the floods in Cork last November. What went wrong on the night and indeed prior to the night. The events that led up to that night. I certainly support this call and I feel the Minister
